Katherine was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She grew up on old Hollywood movies and her mother's obsession for Barbra Streisand. She always knew she wanted to act. She would spend days imitating Lina Lamont, Carol Burnett, and countless others. To her, the movies were magical, and was bitten by the acting bug. After staying late to watch rehearsals for Grease, she was watching the Rizzo rehearse "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" and was brought to tears. From that moment on she wanted to learn how to do that: This personally and immediately touching thing called musical theatre.
Beginning dance in middle school, she grew with her studio. Taking more classes as they offered them, and entering the competitive dance world as they did. In addition, she also became a dance teacher; instructing mostly tap, musical theatre, jazz, ballet, and contemporary. Plus, she was part for their performance troupe. Performing at various events around Toronto including the Santa Clause Parade, Youth Day, and at the Hard Rock Café. What's more, her studio was also fortunate to perform at Walt Disney World as part of Dance the World; where she got to be a part of the Magic Kingdom Parade, and on stage at Hollywood Studios and Downtown Disney.
Nevertheless, Katherine still wanted to be an actor. On top of being a competitive dancer whilst performing in youth and community theatre productions, she attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts as a Drama Major. She had classes every day of the week for four years learning the craft behind Greek Theatre, Medieval Theatre, Commedia dell'Arte, Improvisation, Shakespeare, Sketch Comedy, Children's Theatre, Stage Combat, Directing, Divised Theatre, Theatre of the Oppressed, Epic Theatre, and much more. She even got the chance to tour Children's Theatre and abridged Shakespeare productions to schools who do not have easy access to performance.
It was at her school where Katherine got her chance to choreograph a body of work. On top of teaching musical theatre workshops to the younger grades, she choreographed Chicago. Leading from her new interest, she had the opportunity that same year to choreograph Shevil The Musical at the Toronto Fringe Festival.
Katherine currently attends New York University's Tisch School of the Arts New Studio on Broadway working towards a BFA in Drama. Since being in college, she has pursued a variety of interests from assisting choreographer Josh Zacher, joining a devised theatre collective in the West Village, as well as going back to Toronto to choreograph various musicals, and performing as well as choreographing at various regional theatres in the States. She is also currently the Assistant to the Artistic Producer, Chilina Kennedy, of the Toronto and New York based Eclipse Theatre Company, as well as assisting Broadway choreographer Josh Prince at Broadway Dance Lab.
Katherine is incredibly grateful for the opportunities in her life, and all the amazing people who continue to inspire her.
